The Vice President of Tarvender is the second highest officer in the executive branch of the Tarvender Federal Government after the President of Tarvender, and ranks first in the presidential line of succession. The vice president is also an officer in the legislative branch, as President of the Council. In this capacity, the Vice President is empowered to preside over Council deliberations, but may not vote except to cast a tie-breaking vote.

The Vice President is indirectly elected together with the President to a single six-year term of office by the people of the Tarvender through the Electoral College. While the Constitution states that a President can only serve a single six year term, the Constitution does not say how many terms a Vice President can serve, meaning that a Vice President can serve under more than one President.

In the event that the Vice Presidency is vacant, the President can appoint a new Vice President and the Council must confirm that nomination. If the President doesn't nominate a Vice President after four months of it's vacancy, the Council can nominate and confirm their own Vice President, which means that a member of the opposite party of the sitting President can become Vice President.
